Rubric Example

Rubrics are tools that can serve a number of purposes if utilized to their fullest extent.  The benefits of rubrics may include enhancing teacher student communication, setting up appropriate expectations to engender assessment and most importantly facilitate learning.  In the following example a rubric has been designed to assess a higher order online activity that uses the concept mapping software inspiration 9.

Learning Objective: Compose a decision map and critically evaluate your map based on what you know about dual process theory. (Synthesis and Evaluation)

Students will have done work understanding the dual process theory of decision making in a previous module or learning task, and in the current activity will be utilizing that understanding to map out a decision important in their life.  They will then evaluate their map in relation to dual process theory to better understand their decision making process.
